The Chicken and the Egg

Channeling has really challenged my notions of authorship and self. (A topic for another time.) As I was beginning to sort through our thoughts about this, I received the following message:

The chicken or the egg is a trick question. Each contains the other, they are both manifest and potential at the same time.

The trick is that the question by being posed asks you to separate the two without doing so directly. It also steers you to think about the metaphysics of "being" in a constrained way. This type of trick is not one that leads to critical thinking or spiritual progress. As evident in the response of most people to this question, it intends for the recipient to get stuck in a state of endless cycling without a way out.

Sound familiar?
Think: THE HUMAN CONDITION.

So, why does that matter?

This cognitive separation functions similarly to the false dichotomies that have been erected around us. That is why people speak of the work of integration.

When we are able to recognize, integrate, harness, and hold manifest and potential energies at the same time, we come closer to our True Self, to restorative wholeness, to closing gaps that can be exploited. We come closer to escaping the cage. This is a basic principle at work in the concepts of yin and yang, internal alchemy, and kundalini.

There are historical and present forces that seek to control and diminish that power. While we're contemplating the questions we're presented with, while our focus is distracted...

Was it the chicken or the egg?

Will I go to heaven or hell?

Am I good enough?

Knowledgeable enough?

Am I no good inside?

How is occupying the emptiness between good and evil different from moving to another space and perspective?
